The incident was caught on the gas station’s CCTV cameras, which showed the boy pointing the gun at the store clerk. The gun was kept in a black bag, which the boy was carrying at the time, as reported by the Independent.

The police were alerted about the incident, and Officer Tressa Beltran reached the gas station within 90 seconds of the call, according to the report.

The boy has been charged with six crimes, including armed robbery, discharge of a gun, and assault with a dangerous weapon. Since he is a juvenile, his name has not been released to the media.

According to local media reports, the boy talked to his classmates about which gas station in the area would be the easiest to rob before actually committing the crime.

It has been confirmed that the gun used in the incident belonged to the boy’s grandfather, who is also his legal guardian. The gun was allegedly taken from the grandfather’s safe, where it was loaded with two magazines, the Independent further reported.

The grandfather was unaware that the boy could access the safe where the gun was kept, according to the police.
