Chandigarh University MMS Row: Himachal Pradesh police arrests 23 years old accused from Shimla district

In the sensational Chandigarh University video leak case, the Himachal Pradesh police have arrested a 23-year-old associate of the accused girl from his hometown in the state. The arrested youth belongs to Rohr in Shimla district and was arrested from there. The girl involved in the case also belongs to the same place.

Earlier, Sunny Mehta (23) was named as a suspect in the case after a Chandigarh University girl shared his name. Himachal Pradesh DGP Sanjay Kundu said that he has received a request from Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav to arrest the accused named in the case.

After getting his personal details, the Himachal Police arrested him from his hometown in Rohr. The accused has been kept in police custody at Rohr police station and will be handed over to the Punjab Police investigation team from Mohali once he reaches there.
Even Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur said on the matter, “I have directed the police officers to cooperate with the Punjab Police. According to information received, the boy who made the video viral hails from Himachal. Legal action will be taken against him.”

On September 17, a shocking incident took place at Chandigarh University in Mohali, Punjab, where a female student allegedly leaked nude videos of more than 60 female students taking a bath in the hostel. After the leak, there were several reports of students attempting suicide, but the police and university authorities denied any such reports.

Mohali SSP Vivek Soni said, “There were rumors that the accused had made several videos. We are investigating the matter. There are no reports of any deaths yet. I would like to appeal to everyone not to spread rumours.” Asked about the leaked videos on social media, the SSP said the police was gathering evidence and he would inform the media once he had more information on the matter.
