External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar reached Georgia on July 9 and he was received by the country’s foreign minister on his arrival in Tbilisi. S Jaishankar handed over holy relics of St Queen Ketevan to the Georgia minister. St Queen Ketevan was a 17th century Georgian Queen who attained martyrdom. Her relics were found in 2005 at St Augustine Convent in Old Goa, on basis of medieval Portuguese records. They are believed to be brought to Goa in 1627. On behalf of India, S Jaishankar has gifted one part of the relics to Georgia.
