GOOGLE Doodle TODAY: Today’s doodle honors PK Rosie, the first female lead in Malayalam cinema. On this day in 1903, Rosy was born to Rajamma in Thiruvananthapuram, formerly Trivandrum (the capital of Kerala). Rosie’s passion for acting began at a young age.

At a time when performing arts were discouraged in many societies, especially among women, Rosy overcame the obstacle with her role in the Malayalam film Vigathakumaran (The Lost Child). Even today, his story is a motivation and inspiration for many.

PK Ross played the female lead in the 1928 silent Malayalam film Vigathakumaran (The Lost Child).
She was the first heroine in a Malayalam film and the first Dalit actress in a Hindi film.
Rosy plays the role of Sarojini, a Nair girl in the film.
When the film was made, members of the Nair community were outraged to see a Dalit woman portraying Nair.
The house is said to be on fire from the top floor.
Fearing for her life, Rosy flees in a truck towards Tamil Nadu, marries a truck driver, Kesawan Pillai, and lives as ‘Rajammal’.
He never achieved fame, but instead, he himself in his former life as an actor.
