Kathmandu: At least 68 people died when a plane crashed in Nepal on Sunday, in what officials said was the deadliest aviation disaster to hit the Himalayan nation in three decades.
Nepal’s aviation sector is plagued by accidents due to poor maintenance, inadequate training and lax standards.

The country also has some of the most remote and difficult airstrips in the world, with approaches flanked by high mountains that challenge even experienced pilots.

May 29, 2022

A Twin Otter plane operated by Nepalese carrier Tara Air has crashed shortly after takeoff from Pokhara in western Nepal, killing 22 people.

April 14, 2019

A small plane veered off the runway on takeoff near Mount Everest, hitting two helicopters and killing three people. Three people were also injured.
