Officials answered reports of the shooting at the Maquoketa Caves State Park Campground before 6:30 a.m. Friday, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said in an explanation. Officials found three individuals lethally shot in a tent at the campsite, division colleague chief Mitch Mortvedt said.

The three casualties were connected, Mortvedt said. He didn’t give their names or ages, make sense of how they were connected or give an intention to the killings.
