Arlington Bank Robbery Suspect in Custody After Holding 4 Adults, 1 Child Hostage: Police

A man demanded money from a bank in Arlington, Va., and held four adults and a child hostage Tuesday before police could take him into custody, authorities said.

The man’s name was not immediately released.

Five people, including a child, are safe after a man barricaded them inside a Wells Fargo bank in the 3100 block of Washington Boulevard in the Clarendon area, Arlington County police said. The group included patrons and bank employees. No injuries were reported.

The hostage negotiator responded to the stalemate.

“Preliminary information indicates the suspect entered the bank, indicated he had a weapon and demanded money,” police said shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday. “The suspect remains barricaded inside the bank with patrons/employees. Police are still on the scene working to resolve the incident.”
