At least 55 people, including students in the age group 11-15, were killed in a horrific bombing incident at a girls’ school in Afghanistan’s Kabul on May 8. More than 150 people were reportedly injured in the attack.

Afghanistan’s Interior ministry spokesman Tariq Arian said that three blasts took place outside the school entrance just when the students were leaving for the day.

The blasts in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighbourhood targeted Afghanistan’s ethnic Hazaras, most of whom are Shiite Muslims. The Taliban condemned the school attack and denied its role in the bombing.
