Twitter Inc. closed two of its three offices in India and asked its employees to work from home. The move is said to be part of Elon Musk’s mission to cut costs and get the social media service in the black.

According to CNBC-TV18’s sources, Twitter has closed its India offices in the political hub of New Delhi and the financial hub of Mumbai, leaving only three people on Twitter’s India team, including the country head and two people covering the North, East and South and West regions. All three will continue to work from home (wfh).

It is worth noting here that the San Francisco, California-based American social media company laid off more than 90% of its roughly 200 employees in India late last year.
However, Twitter continues to operate in India from its office in the southern tech hub of Bengaluru, where engineers are mostly based, people familiar with the matter said in the Bloomberg report. Engineers from the Bengal office mostly report directly to the US branch and are not part of the Indian team.
