A Korean Air plane carrying 173 passengers and crew overran the runway while landing in bad weather in the central Philippines late Sunday.

The Philippine Civil Aviation Authority said an Airbus A330 from the city of Incheon, South Korea overran the runway on Mactan Island in Cebu province, prompting the airport to be closed indefinitely.

“All passengers are safe and under the supervision of ground staff,” the Philippine Aviation Agency said in a statement.

The agency said at least four inbound flights were diverted to Manila and a nearby airport, but did not immediately provide further details, such as whether the aircraft sustained any damage.

Passengers made an emergency evacuation using the plane’s escape chutes.
