Akshaya Tritiya 2023: Perfect Time for Wealth and Prosperity
Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej, will be celebrated on April 22, 2023. Akha Teej falls during Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the month of Vaishakha. The word Akshaya means never diminishing. Therefore, the benefits of performing any Japa, Yajna, Pitra-Tarpan, Dan-Punya on this auspicious day never diminish and remain forever. Akha Teej falling on a Wednesday Rohini Nakshatra day is considered auspicious as per Drik Panchang.
History and Significance of Akshaya Tritiya:
The day of Akshaya Tritiya is ruled by God Vishnu, who is considered the protector god in the Hindu Trinity. According to Hindu mythology, the Treta Yuga, which is the second yoga, started Akshaya Tritiya day.
Parshuram Jayanti is also celebrated as Akshaya Tritiya marks the birth day of Lord Parshuram. The sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Lord Parshuram (literally meaning, Rama with an axe) descended on Earth to save it from the barbarism of the Kshatriyas.
This day is celebrated as Parshuram Jayanti in most parts of the country. Some legends believe that sage Vyasa, who is the author of the Mahabharata, began reciting the Hindu epic to Lord Ganesha on Akshaya Tritiya. Some also say that on this day the river Ganga descended to earth.
Other reasons and stories that confirm the significance of this day, one such is that of Lord Krishna’s friend Sudama who visited Dwarka on this day and though he never asked for any financial help, he took a gift of a small bag of rice and in return Lord Krishna blessed with unlimited prosperity.
Some stories also suggest that during the Mahabharata, the Pandavas received the Akshaya patra, Kubera was blessed with the position of the custodian of wealth, and many more.
Akshaya Tritiya is believed to bring luck and success. Many people buy gold on this day as it is believed that buying gold on Akshaya Tritiya brings prosperity and more wealth. It is believed that gold bought on this day will never decrease and will continue to grow.
Muhurat:
Vedic astrologers believe that this day is free from all negative influences and therefore no muhurat is required as the entire day is considered auspicious.
According to Hindu Electoral Astrology, the three lunar days of Yugadi, Akshaya Tritiya and Vijay Dashami do not need any Muhurta to initiate or perform any auspicious work. As per Drik Panchang, Akshaya Tritiya Puja Muhurat starts from 07:49 AM to 12:20 PM. Favorable time to buy gold is April 22nd from 07:49 to April 23rd 05:48.
